Senior Photos!!! Jackie

I had the privilege to photograph the lovely Jackie a few weeks ago.  It was cold, but we had the best sunset and awesome willingness to sit in a chair in the freeeeezing cold....in a sleeveless dress :)  Oh, it was fun!  Jackie is a 2016 high school senior and I couldn't be more excited for her graduating and pursuing a college degree.  She's smart...I mean really smart and we just had the best time :) Thanks Jackie for having me photograph your senior pics!!

This last photo was totally for fun.  She is a singer and brought along some sheet music.....Just for fun :)

Blues Break

Was fun.  Was REALLY fun.  Josh was off of work, the kids were surprisingly on amazing behavior and family fun was all we wanted to do.  Crafts, skiing, sledding....all good.  My kids like to play in the snow.  It's cold people...real cold. Like 20 cold, but the kids love it and truth be told.....it makes me feel like a kid, so....I in turn like it....:) hahaha.  Anyway

Good Friends, Good Tea!

I had the chance to catch up with some good friends recently over tea and scones.  I was so grateful to have been able to document the real-life theatrical faces that we have....well, Ashley had them this day, but usually the dramatic faces are mine.  Krysta treated us to a dramatic reading and I got to photograph baby Ellie!!!  She is so much fun to photograph because you don't always know what you are going to get.  It was a lovely morning in Krysta's new kitchen....grateful for good friends. :)

Sleepless in Denver

I am currently looking through old photos of mine and seeing what kind of butcher work I did on these 5 years ago.  I mean, every photographer when they start has a very different look to their images compared to now.  It's a constant work in progress.  I love to see where I have been to where I am now to where I want to go.  I have had mentors and friends who have come along side me to help shape the photographer I am today.  I have so much further that I want to go, but I'm grateful to those who have lent me a hand along the way.  I only hope I can do that for others.  Enjoy photos I took 5 years ago and have re-done. :)

My little eskimo

I had about 3 minutes to capture Kayla's photo before Tae Kwon Do.  She was super excited because there was a time when she would say as a kiddo "MOM, another photo??"  So, I have had to sneak photos of her here and there for the last few years.  This time, she was all about it.  YES! I was so excited because she looked to fabulous in her coat with her fur hat that it took everything in me to get to our destination without pulling the car over at random corners.  This peanut is almost 10.....10!!!  Holy smokes!  I just can't believe it!  I'm grateful for her spirit, her love for others and her compassionate heart.  Cheers to my little eskimo!

"Can I swing by for 1 shot?"

This is what I said to Hilary last week, "Can I swing by for 1 shot?".  I had an idea of double exposure.  Anyone know what that is?  In the film days you took one image and put it on top of another to create this cool effect, double exposure.  I have always been intrigued by this style and tried to figure it out with just my digital camera.  I have done this before in Photoshop, but never within my camera.  Most DSLR's these days have this capability in the menu settings.  On the Nikon this can be found by pushing Menu, then click on the camera icon and then it's at the bottom (Multiple exposure).  Anywho, I called Hil and said, lets play.  It was super short notice, but I showed up and she looked like she was about to step out to NYFW.  Sheesh!  Lucky for me....it was time to play!

Sand? or Jam hands?

I have always been a mom that wrestled with that question...sand or jam hands?  Because you can always wash off jam, but if you don't have a wipe....you can't get it off totally.  The sand...that gets EVERYWHERE. Period.  But...sand could get on the hands with jam, so..you see my conundrum?  Ugh!

Anyway, nuff said about that...lets move onto the beach.  OH THE BEACH!!  I love the beach.  Always have.  I mean, I could sit on the beach for hours looking out at the water and NEVER get bored.  I can't even sit in my house without being on the phone talking to someone, music on and maybe even the fan on for white noise behind the noise.  But the beach, I could sit in front of that for countless hours and it would never get old.  These pics don't show, but the temps were in the 60's.....I was bundled in my jacket with a scarf.  Look at the kids!  They don't care if it's windy, chilly or the sun isn't out...they are get'n in.  These are my children.....LOVERS of the BEACH!!!!  If you don't find me...I'll be sitting on the beach...somewhere warm. :)

Amber is engaged!!

My cousin Amber is engaged!!!  This comes as super exciting news to our family and I had the chance to spend a few hours with her and her new fiance recently in Pasadena, galavanting around downtown.  It was a super special time not only to meet Steve but to hang with a cousin I don't get to see very often.  To say we had a blast is an understatement....we had the BEST time.  They were on a time crunch...I didn't know Pasadena....so with the guidance of another cousin, we were able to pull it together and find some cool spots.  Of course my nose took us to the Jcrew store front...no surprise there.  The Pasadena city hall was spectacular and alley ways were abundant.  Congratulations Amber and Steve!!!  More photos on SEEDHOUSE PHOTOGRAPHY

Holiday Mini-sessions!!!

No doubt about it, I love holiday mini-sessions!!!  Not only are they cost effective for my clients, but they are also fun for me being a HUGE extrovert to meet with several different families in a 3 hour stretch.  I remembered EVERYONES name this time around.....(pat on the back).  Here are some samples of what we got to accomplish together :)

Yamashita's Reunion!

I had some crazy awesome fun with the Yamashita's WHOLE family and Jessica's dad and step mom last week.  It was so gorgeous out that we could ONLY have a good time. The kids were in high demand of which shots I was to take, and I loved it.  They wanted jump shots, sitting shots, laying down shots, minecraft shots, grass shots, jumping out of grass shots ....the list goes on!  I love getting direction from kiddos on shoots....they have so much fun which gets me amazing fun shots that show their personalities!  How could I go wrong?  It was a wonderful time

Weston's came to Colorado!

My super cousins arrived last week for a wonderful visit in Colorado!!!  We were on the tail end of their whirlwind trip and what a treat it was so spend time together.  I had the ultra challenge of photographing their 3 kiddos who have a history of NOT smiling for me :)  I gladly accepted the challenge and we hit the road....literally.  I took this family up Marabou (a new fav location of mine) and we had a blast!  I love letting the kids direct me a little, it gets them comfortable in front of the camera and silly, fun photos transpire.

Heidi found out some tragic news about her health when she went home.  To pray for her and her family, follow her blog HERE and her Facebook page HERE
